I didn’t have any plan for visiting Uch Sharif until i got to know that Uch Sharif is just hours drive from Bahawalpur (south-east) while i was on my visit to Cholistan. The Name “Uch Sharif” just reminded me of a diminished shrine that i had seen somewhere in the pictures back at home. I never realized the importance of the place.
Rumors had it that Uch Sharif was founded by Alexander the Great. The visit was a rich visual treat of the priceless specimens of the Sultanate architecture with exceptionally profise tile-work and towering domes. It was sad to see that the shrines were washed away with flood decades back. The town contains the tombs of Bibi Jawindi, Baha’al-Halim and Jalaluddin Bukhari. The palce is currently on the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Site.
I would suggest to visit Uch Sharif during winters or spring since summers are usually way too hot.
