In between fantasy and reality

by in Gilgit-Baltistan, travel journal

I just came out of my hotel room, its dark outside  and i started to walk on the road. There are no street lights and i can see giant mountain silhouettes all around. With each step, i am gaining a distance between me and my hotel. It is black pitch dark. I am walking under the light of zillion stars. For a moment, i felt scared. This is so unlike i have experienced in the city. I have to go back to my hotel.

I couldn’t understand what was so scary about it. Was that the mightiness of nature or the dark odd surrounding?

[at the hotel lawn]

I grabbed a chair, rested my neck at back and started gazing at the sky. I see a lot of stars, shining and sparkling all over. After few moments, i found myself lost in those stars, far away from reality, into a fantasized world. It was very difficult. The sky was all shining as if there is some celebration going on. I felt as if those stars grabbed and pulled me towards them. Or the sky came closer to me. While lost into them, i felt my heart beat getting faster and tears dripping down my eyes. For the first time in my life, i felt alive….

@Sameeta: don’t worry Sameeta, words can never describe the feelings, never ever.
I tried my best to describe that moment only. Night was full of such moments.

I always tell my students to pour their hearts out in our writing journal classes. We travel along the worlds that only a wishful mind can fantasize, come back to earth and give words to our dreams.
They always ask me HOW, when I tell them to balance their fantasies with reality.
Well today you gave me an experimental reference.
You’ve given us an exceptional visual fantasy and a good read :)

  5. From An Ardent Dreamer!:

Beautiful narration Danial! Never can one fully describe what one feels when such an experience take place….. I so can relate to the falling of tears without any control whatsoever! While reading this fantasy or a living dream of yours, it felt as if i was there sitting on that lawn chair and getting mesmerized by the enchanting beauty of the stars! Somewhat similar moments were experienced while i got a chance to spend a night in the open wilderness of a desert! Such calmness grips you and one tends to loose oneself in the space where time and place do not seem to exist! A must have feeling to know and get connected with the mightiness of the Supreme and with the beauty that has been bestowed upon us! Once again….thank you for a lovely experience

June 19, 2012.. Not exactly like yours but I kinda had a similar experience the same date at Pine Park Resort, Shogran! :) I had stepped out in the lawn after my dinner. All of a sudden, all lights of the hotel and around went out coz of the power outage. In that utter darkness, the night sky up above held a sight so majestic that I was literally lost for words. My camera wasn’t great for clicks at night time so I couldn’t capture the wonderment that I saw. But I feel it’s forever instilled in my memory. The sky up above was so magical and I felt it was pulling me towards it or was going to fall down on me.

This photo by you is amazing and when I saw the date, I was totally taken back to that night in Shogran!

    Thank you! :)

@Nida: Let that beautiful memory of stars not let go easily. keep going to mountains and keep on experiencing such beauty. It happens everyday and sad part is that we don’t realize that. I am glad to read your comment and happy that at least my post took you back in memories. Thank you

the words cannot describe that feeling. even a downright realist will be baffled about his realism, rather enlightened about the discovery of a new dimension!
